About Dr. Navedo
I am Héctor Navedo, a bilingual educator with 20 years of experience in education and 11 years in educational administration, including three years as a K–12 principal. My work has included district-level fine arts supervision, school leadership, and classroom teaching.
I earned my doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Through Leading with Vision, I examine school improvement, educator development, and family–school partnerships, connecting research with the practical decisions educators face.
My university teaching experience includes teaching master’s and doctoral courses. I have also published opinion articles on education in El Nuevo Día.
This is an independent professional blog. Views expressed here are my own and do not represent my employer.
Professional Experience and Leadership Approach
My professional experience combines school leadership, district-level supervision, and curriculum work. In Puerto Rico, I participated in organizing school band competitions in 2014 and 2016 and contributed to the revision of the 2016 Marco Curricular de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Curriculum Framework). These contributions complement my experience in teacher supervision, school planning, and professional development.
I view school leadership as a responsibility that requires educational purpose, coordination among professionals, and follow-through on implementation. Projects should have clear objectives, defined responsibilities, and criteria for assessing their results. From this perspective, arts education is part of a broader responsibility: creating conditions for participation, teaching, and learning.
